When Lightning Strikes. How Gerry's Restaurant Stayed Cool
Gerry owns a restaurant in Florida. One day, during a thunderstorm, lightning struck the A/C unit, causing damage. Thankfully, the property was covered with a policy from ICAT, and the claim was handled through Boulder Claims.
Gerry provided estimates from an HVAC contractor who confirmed the lightning strike caused the damage. With this incident occurring in August in Florida, Gerry needed to rent five portable AC units to keep the dining area cool and his restaurant open. He also rented fans and floor mats to address the humidity and prevent any accidents.
Within the properties policy, a check was issued to cover the cost of the parts, repairs and rentals needed to keep the restaurant running. Gerry referenced being thankful that the “claims representatives were truly concerned about my well-being.”
