Residential Inspections

In order to fully deliver on the promise to protect our policyholders in the event of a catastrophe, we believe it’s important to inspect all of the properties we insure.

What to Expect from your Coastal Homeowners Inspection

ICAT Coastal Homeowners

ICAT offers Self-Service inspections for coastal homeowners policies. Self-service inspection allows insureds to complete their inspections without an inspector coming to their home. If insureds do not respond to the e-survey within 10 days, a traditional inspection will be automatically ordered on the 11th day. To learn more, check out Self-Service Inspection for Homeowners brochure.

Self-Service Inspection Details:

  • Convenient Access: Insureds will receive email/text links to our self-service inspection platform, eSurvey.
  • No App Needed: There's no need to download any apps—everything can be done through the weblink.
  • Opt-Out Option: Insureds can opt-out and have a traditional inspection instead. An opt-out button is conveniently located at the bottom of every eSurvey page. Once the insured opts out, a traditional inspection will automatically be ordered.
  • Automatic Ordering: If insureds do not respond within 10 days, a traditional inspection will be automatically ordered on the 11th day.
  • Guided Process: The weblink will walk the insured through the process step-by-step.

For traditional inspections, an inspector will be sent to conduct an onsite inspection within 30 days after the policy is issued. All properties written with our Coastal Homeowners coverage will have an exterior inspection completed. Properties older than 20 years of age or high-value homes will have an internal inspection completed to closely examine the plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and roof systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our inspector will call you to schedule a date; however, if we cannot get ahold of you, we will choose a date for the exterior inspection. An appointment is required for an interior inspection. When the inspector arrives, they will knock on your door and present credentials before inspecting the exterior of the home only. If you are not home, a door tag will be left advising that the exterior inspection was completed.
